Job Summary

As a Wireless Network Engineer at the University of California, San Francisco, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the wireless network infrastructure to support the academic, research, and healthcare missions of the organization. You will work closely with the IT team to ensure the wireless network is secure, reliable, and efficient, providing a seamless experience for users across the campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement wireless network infrastructure, including access points, switches, and routers.
  • Configure and troubleshoot wireless network devices, including APs, controllers, and switches.
  • Develop and implement network security policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of the wireless network.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to identify and resolve network issues, including wireless connectivity problems and network performance issues.
  • Provide technical support and training to users on wireless network usage and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry standards to ensure the wireless network remains secure and efficient.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on wireless networks.
  • Advanced knowledge of wireless network protocols, including 802.11a/b/g/n/ac.
  • Experience with network security, including firewalls, VPNs, and access control lists.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with users and technical teams.
