Key Responsibilities:

The following duties and primary responsibilities are designed to outline the general expectations and requirements of this role. Incumbents may be tasked with various primary responsibilities as outlined by their direct supervisor or manager.

1. Evaluate all patient medication requests for clinical suitability and complete relevant inpatient unit order entries.

2. Supervise the dispensing, ordering, and restocking of medications for the inpatient hospice unit, as applicable. Conduct final verification of all patient-specific medication orders for precision.

3. Confirm and review third-party shipping vendor and pharmacy courier deliveries prior to dispatch.

4. Support established performance objectives for all personnel, focusing on minimizing and reducing errors in dispensing, data entry, and restocking.

5. Contribute to maintaining exceptional customer service and client relations.

6. Develop and uphold practice documentation for all established clients and responsibilities to assist in the training of new staff.

7. Manage inventory in accordance with financial and strategic guidelines.

8. Oversee inventory replenishment and order pharmacy product supplies as necessary (in collaboration with the Lead Technician), including ongoing hospice inpatient and unit dispense machine inventory replenishment, where applicable.

9. Assist the Pharmacy Manager with routine formulary and inventory assessments for inpatient unit facilities.

10. Coordinate effective inventory management of labels, vials, and other supplies.

11. Ensure proper maintenance of related departmental equipment.

12. Assist the Pharmacy Manager in conflict resolution among staff, when requested.

13. Promote and sustain a positive workplace culture.

14. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing pharmacy practice.


Additional Responsibilities:
  • Safeguard the company's intellectual property and the confidentiality of customer and patient data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position does not entail supervisory or managerial responsibilities.

Qualifications:
  • RPh required, PharmD preferred.
  • Active pharmacy license in the state of operation.

Pharmacy licenses in other states or willingness to obtain additional licenses are preferred.


Experience:
  • Experience in LTC dispensing pharmacy.
  • Preferred experience in hospice and palliative care.

Experience in multidisciplinary team leadership across various settings is preferred.


Skills and Competencies:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in equianalgesic dosing, generic and therapeutic substitution, formulary management, and prior authorization processes.
  • Strong understanding and adherence to all state and federal pharmacy practice regulations.
  • Proficient typing and computer skills are essential for success in this role.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and sound judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Equipment Proficiency:
  • Familiarity with Framework LTC dispensing software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy automation and remote dispensing is preferred.
  • Proficient in using a PC, business, and communication software (MS Office) and web-based tools.

Work Environment:
  • Work is conducted in a professional office setting.
