Pediatric Neurology Medical Assistant Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Neurology Medical Assistant to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a Pediatric Neurology Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate Patient Care: Work closely with the Pediatric Neurology RN to coordinate patient care, make appointments, triage phone calls, discharge clinic patients, and assist providers with any needs.
  • Front and Back Office Clerical Duties: Perform a variety of front and back office clerical duties in support of assigned area, including collecting patient data, obtaining patient medical history, performing treatment procedures, preparing instruments for sterilization, and maintaining a sanitary work area.
  • Cashiering Duties: Perform basic cashiering duties, including collecting monies for various activities and closing and balancing cash registers.
  • Environmental Maintenance: Maintain a sanitary work area, including patient care rooms, equipment, and instruments, and report equipment problems.
  • Customer Service: Provide and ensure quality service and customer satisfaction.
  • Related Work: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High School or GED Equivalent, Program Graduate, Course, Education specialization: MA accred pgm graduate or 2 yrs MA experience on DD Form 214, UNMH MA Safe Med Admin Course Completion w/in 90 Days.
  • Experience: No minimum experience required, Nonessential: Bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo 1 year directly related experience.
  • Credentials: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days.
  • Physical Conditions: Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.
Working Conditions:
  • Significant Hazard: Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials require PPE.
  • Travel: May be required to travel to various work sites.
  • Access to Medical Room: Limited access to med room. Med Admin Policy, Att A.
  • Shift Rotation: May be required or is required to rotate work shifts.
