Role Purpose

The Pediatric Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in assisting the clinic supervisor and the entire healthcare team in providing care for infants, children, and adolescents. The primary responsibility of the Pediatric Medical Assistant is to facilitate patient flow, ensuring efficiency while delivering exceptional patient care. Building and maintaining strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues is essential. The Pediatric MA will perform various clinical tasks, including wound care and assisting with procedures, while ensuring that the clinical environment is safe, organized, and well-equipped.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Pediatric Medical Assistant at Duke City Urgent Care, your daily responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting nursing staff and other healthcare professionals in monitoring and managing all patients within the clinic.
  • Recognizing and evaluating patients exhibiting clinical signs that may require further intervention, and promptly alerting a nurse or healthcare provider.
  • Administering oxygen therapy, preparing IV setups, performing catheterizations, suctioning, applying cardiac monitors, and conducting basic assessments under the supervision of a registered nurse or attending provider.
  • Taking a proactive stance on patient and staff safety by identifying opportunities to enhance safety protocols and practices.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
