Accounting Professional for Property Management

We are seeking a seasoned Financial Accountant to join our Accounting Team at Commercial and Residential Management Group. This position will oversee the financial procedures for a selection of affordable properties in Yardi (Property Management Software). The successful candidate will handle comprehensive bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, GL coding, and financial statements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and audit monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Record and process monthly adjusting and accrual entries in a timely manner.
- Monitor cash balances and accounts to prevent overdrafts and ensure financial stability.
- Prepare and send monthly financial statements with supporting documents to clients.
- Monitor accounts for errors and correct them accordingly to maintain financial integrity.
- Assist in daily, monthly, and annual audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Record and audit invoices in an accurate and timely manner.
- Process final accounting for residents/tenants who move out, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Monitor tenant accounts for overages/shortages and past-due amounts, sending notices as needed.
- Process payables, coding them correctly, and write and send checks on a consistent basis.
Requirements
- A degree in accounting or a minimum of three years of accounting experience.
- A minimum of six (6) months of Yardi Property Management software experience is preferred.
- Previous accounting for affordable housing or subsidies experience is highly preferred.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft 365 programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, and TEAMS).
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks using strong organizational skills, excellent time management, and critical thinking to solve problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-directed and high attention to detail.
