Radiology Assistant

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Radiology Assistant to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our radiology department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our electronic file room and providing exceptional customer service to patients and physicians.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic files, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Respond to patient and physician requests for films, reports, and CDs in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist the Women's Center in obtaining mammogram records from other institutions, collecting mailed CDs, and delivering to Mammography or loading data to the system.
- Make copies of CDs as requested by internal and external customers, including ED, OB, Surgery, and Radiology, while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Refer CD issues to the IS department for prompt resolution.
- Collect and respond to legal subpoenas requesting patient records, creating a system to track records and working with Risk Management to sequester patient records.
- Collect fees for legal work and distribute to the finance department for deposit.
- Provide exceptional patient care, including greeting patients, assisting with IV starts on outpatient CT procedures, and monitoring stat outpatient reports for final status.
- Assist with light housekeeping duties, including stocking linens, discarding used linens, straightening chairs, sorting magazines, and discarding trash to maintain a clean and presentable environment.
- Maintain department inventory levels, establishing par levels, and ordering office supplies as needed.
- CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
- High school graduate.
- 1 year related experience.
- Prefer 1-2 years of phlebotomy experience and/or trained to start IVs.
- Basic knowledge of filing and data entry.
- Type 20 wpm preferred.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge of telephone, and paging functions.
- Some knowledge of Radiology functions.
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, rotating shifts, and may be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases. The ability to lift and assist with the movement of heavy patients and/or equipment is also required.
