Job Summary:We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Radiology Technologist to operate x-ray equipment, produce high-quality radiographs, and provide exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of radiologic technology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body as ordered by a physician
- Accountable for the performance and documentation of all diagnostic procedures utilizing proper technical parameters to produce quality studies
- Knowledgeable in the safe use, maneuverability, and operation of all general radiography, portable, and fluoro equipment
- Proficient in the performance of general diagnostic procedures, including general fluoroscopy procedures if applicable
- Adheres to infection prevention, isolation, and sterile techniques as it applies in patient handling and delivery of care
- Utilizes proper patient identification to ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient at the correct time
- Obtains and records pertinent patient history, explains the procedure to the patient in a manner to ensure understanding, and ensures patient comfort during the performance of the exam
- Reviews radiographs to ensure optimum quality, reports environmental/equipment problems to appropriate resource personnel, and performs required computer functions for RIS/HIS systems
- Labels all radiographs appropriately following department's established criteria and standards
- Consistently maintains an attitude of professionalism, teamwork, and collaboration with co-workers, physicians, and internal customers/departments
- Provides positive interactions and a customer-first approach with patients and their families/caregivers and visitors
- Participates in assessment of own learning needs and actively seeks opportunity for increased competency and growth
- Attends in-services to ensure knowledge of current departmental and technical procedures, attends CPR classes to maintain re-certification, and maintains appropriate state license and national board certification
- Maintains cleanliness of equipment and work area, ensures adequate level of supplies needed for quality patient care, and identifies supplies and equipment needs for procedures
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
- IEMA Accreditation in Radiologic Technology
- ARRT (RT) Certification or Certificate Eligible
- Good communication skills, understanding of RIS & PACS, ability to work under stressful situations, and ability to handle patient information in a confidential manner
- Ability to adapt to fluctuations in patient volumes to meet patient care and department needs
- Ability to work weekends and holidays to accommodate patient care needs
- Ability to work rotating shifts any day of the week
- Ability to take call and arrive on site within one hour
- May be exposed to radiation during procedures
- May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time or be required to lift and move patients
- May be exposed to hazardous materials, infectious disease, and required to participate in annual emergency drills
- Required to maintain current CPR certification
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
