PRN Radiology Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Radiology Assistant to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Radiology Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our radiology department, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Electronic File Room Duties: Perform all electronic file room duties to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and provide excellent customer service to patients and physicians.
- Telephone and Fax Operations: Answer telephone calls pleasantly to accept requests for films, reports, and CDs, and fax reports promptly to referring physician offices as requested.
- CD Management: Assist in obtaining mammogram records from other institutions, collect mailed CDs, and deliver to Mammography or load data to the system.
- Customer Service: Make copies of CDs as requested by both external and internal customers, including ED, OB, Surgery, and Radiology, and deliver to the proper destination in the hospital while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Issue Resolution: Refer CD issues to the IS department for quick resolution.
- Legal Subpoenas: Collect and respond to legal subpoenas requesting patient records, create a system to track records, and work with Risk Management to sequester patient records.
- Patient Care: Greet patients, assist with IV starts on Outpatient CT procedures if properly trained, and communicate and explain CT experiences to patients.
- Stat Outpatient Reports: Monitor stat outpatient reports for final status, call reports to physicians, and discharge outpatients as appropriate.
- Department Inventory: Maintain department inventory levels, establish par levels, and order office supplies as needed.
- Licensure and Certification: CPR certified within 30 days of hire.
- Education and Experience: High school graduate, 1 year related experience, and prefer 1-2 years of phlebotomy experience and/or trained to start IVs.
- Knowledge and Skills: Basic knowledge of filing and data entry, type 20 wpm preferred, good interpersonal skills, and good knowledge of telephone, and paging functions.
