Job Summary

LifeSpan is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Child Life Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our pediatric care team, you will play a vital role in providing emotional support and developmental guidance to children and their families during times of medical need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Planning
    • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children's developmental, psychosocial, and intellectual needs
    • Develop and implement individualized plans of care to address identified needs
  • Therapeutic Interventions
    • Provide age-appropriate therapeutic play experiences to help alleviate anxiety and promote coping skills
    • Implement medical preparation and teaching to help children understand their medical experience
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care
    • Communicate effectively with children, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care
  • Education and Training
    • Develop and implement educational programs to promote learning and mastery
    • Provide training and supervision to students and volunteers
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in child life, child development, or a closely related field
    • Masters degree preferred
  • Certification
    • Certified Child Life Specialist by the Association of Child Life Professionals
  • Experience
    • Completion of Child Life Professional internship with one year of experience working with children
    • Professional child life experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred
