Nonprofit Outreach and Project Development Specialist

OC Goes Solar is seeking a dedicated Outreach and Project Development Specialist to play a crucial role in our mission to enhance community access to solar energy. Established over 7 years ago, our organization is committed to simplifying the transition to solar for community members, having successfully assisted numerous individuals in adopting rooftop solar solutions. Our daily efforts focus on making clean energy more accessible, affordable, and equitable for all.

Among our initiatives, we manage the Solarize Irvine program, a campaign promoting rooftop solar installations, and collaborate with the California PUC SOMAH program to facilitate solar installations in multifamily affordable housing.

The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in nonprofit work, government, or similar fields, particularly in community outreach and project management. Key Responsibilities:

As the Outreach and Project Development Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging and organizing a diverse range of stakeholders to significantly enhance our outreach efforts across the community.
  • Directing, coordinating, implementing, and completing projects in alignment with the organization's strategy, mission, and objectives.
  • Creating project plans, managing daily workflows of implementation processes, and providing support to team members.
  • Producing accurate metrics and timely reports on program status throughout its lifecycle.
  • Collaborating with program partners and delivering quarterly program reports.
  • Assessing program risks and developing strategies with core team members.
  • Establishing and managing long-term goals.
  • Formulating a budget and operational plan for the program.
  • Designing evaluation methods to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.

Desired Qualifications:

We are looking for motivated individuals who are passionate about expanding access to clean energy. Innovative thinking and comfort in engaging with diverse community members are essential.

  • Demonstrated success as a Community Outreach Manager with experience in managing multiple projects and collaborating with internal teams and partner organizations.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience (professional or volunteer) in community organizing and project management.
  • Ability to plan and execute presentations and in-person educational events.
  • Providing technical assistance to individuals and organizations interested in solar energy.
  • Knowledge of solar energy and environmental issues.
  • Contributing to strategic development and planning for long-term program growth.
  • Drive to achieve objectives and meet project goals.
  • Bachelor's degree in sustainability or related fields from an accredited institution.
  • Strong project management skills and leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style.
  • Cultural competency with the ability to engage with diverse and marginalized communities.
  • Proficient presentation skills and familiarity with G-suite, data visualization tools, and social media marketing. Experience with Salesforce and website editing is advantageous.

Work Environment: This position is primarily virtual, with some required in-person meetings and events.
