Position Overview


We are in search of a Water Resources Project Leader to enhance our expanding Environment + Water Resources division.

The ideal candidate should have over 10 years of experience in project management and a desire to grow, collaborate, and innovate.

In this role, the successful applicant will oversee project management tasks such as project scoping and budgeting for proposals, developing timelines, monitoring hours and budget compliance, client communication, issue resolution, deliverable submissions, and project completion, while fostering strong relationships with clients, internal teams, and stakeholders.

Additionally, the candidate will mentor and guide junior to mid-level project managers in honing their project management abilities.

Design projects will encompass various markets and locations, providing opportunities to broaden knowledge and deepen skills related to project management.

We are looking for an independent self-starter who can navigate swiftly and effectively through the project phases.

Key Responsibilities:

Management Duties

  • Utilize servant leadership techniques to manage personnel and project tasks, creating a unified team focused on achieving shared objectives.
  • Accountable for the overall performance and outcomes of the market.
  • Delegate projects to Project Managers and assist in forming suitable project teams and subconsultants.
  • Ensure project success through regular reviews with Project Managers and provide support to rectify deficiencies or address client-related issues.
  • Develop or supervise the creation of project scope, schedules, and fees for new projects and additional client requests that lead to successful outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and current project plans, including fundamental project elements, labor forecasts, financial targets, and quality control strategies.
  • May take on project management responsibilities.
  • Recruit personnel in collaboration with senior leadership by assessing workload, backlog, and client/project demands.
  • Enhance staff retention through morale-boosting initiatives such as one-on-one meetings, collaborative sessions, coaching, training, and occasional team-building events.
  • Communicate regularly with other Discipline Managers and staff across offices regarding capabilities for workload-sharing and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Actively seek leadership and growth opportunities by volunteering to assist senior management with operational, marketing, or technical tasks.
  • Manage and resolve personnel matters, including performance improvement and conflict resolution.
Marketing Duties

  • Establish, cultivate, and sustain relationships with clients and prospective clients.
  • Assist in crafting client proposals for projects to ensure comprehensive scopes that meet company, industry, and client standards.
  • Input, track, and update marketing opportunities independently or in collaboration with Primary Client Contacts.
  • Work closely with Primary Client Contacts to keep them informed of project progress, achievements, and challenges.
  • Collaborate with Primary Client Contacts to develop new projects and ensure client satisfaction.
  • May serve as the Primary Client Contact for one or more clients.
Technical Duties

  • May undertake technical tasks including design and quality assessments.
  • Ensure project documentation aligns with project plans and remains within scope and budget.
  • Oversee data research, collection, and compilation efforts.
  • Analyze and correlate scientific and engineering data, identifying discrepancies in results through a series of detailed steps or processes.
  • Identify issues, evaluate resolution options including associated risks, and implement suitable solutions.
  • Approve project plans formulated by Project Managers.
Quality Assurance Responsibilities

  • Accountable for maintaining quality assurance and quality control in line with the company’s Quality Program to ensure projects meet industry and client standards.
  • Hold team members and reviewers accountable to the established quality standards.
  • Verify that brainstorming sessions occur for all projects and participate as appropriate.
  • Ensure quality control is applied to subconsultant deliverables.
  • Collaborate with team members to maximize profitability while upholding high-quality standards.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Water Resources, Biosystems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of project management experience, preferably in an A/E/C consulting environment.
  • Georgia PE licensure is required; PMP or similar certification is advantageous.
  • Experience in mentoring and training staff.
  • Proficiency with relevant software such as Microsoft Office, MS Project, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HydroCAD, SWMM, ICPR, Hec-HMS, StormCAD, HY8, and other related hydrologic and hydraulic analysis design software.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills with the ability to produce complete and accurate documentation.
  • Experience in project management and business development.
  • Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for floodplains, culverts, and bridges.
  • Experience in BMP/green infrastructure design and modeling.
  • Stream restoration design expertise.
  • Ability to prepare hydrologic and hydraulic studies, drainage reports, design documents, and specifications.
  • Technical writing experience in memorandums, feasibility studies, and regulatory submissions.
  • Knowledge of Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control design, plan development, and permitting.
  • Familiarity with Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) Permits.
  • A willingness and desire to learn and advance professionally.

Additional Information

Compensation at Pond is determined by various factors, including the scope and level of the position, geographic location, and the candidate's skills, knowledge, and experience.

The starting base salary may vary based on these factors. We anticipate filling this position as a Senior Project Manager with a salary range of $115,000 to $186,000.


Additional cash incentives may be included as part of the compensation package, along with a range of medical, financial, and other benefits based on the position offered.
