This role is project-based, with an anticipated duration of 2-3 months.
We are seeking a Mortgage Servicing Compliance Specialist (SME) to conduct loan reviews for one of our financial services clients. The selected candidate will be tasked with designing and executing loan-level mortgage servicing compliance audits, emphasizing adherence to diverse servicing standards and best practices, particularly in collections, loss mitigation, and default management. The SME will collaborate with various stakeholders to establish the testing scope and oversee project implementation, as well as manage a team of mortgage servicing compliance and quality control specialists. Responsibilities will also include addressing escalated issues identified during audits, responding to inquiries from the review team, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and preparing comprehensive reports. Additional duties may arise as dictated by the project scope.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate project data, documentation, and regulatory requirements to develop and implement testing scope, inquiries, and workflows.
- Apply mortgage servicing regulations, including Federal, State, and agency-specific guidelines, to loan-level evaluations.
- Supervise a team of 5-10 loan-level reviewers, ensuring the quality and consistency of evaluations.
- Design and deliver training for the loan-level review team.
- Address inquiries from both internal review teams and external stakeholders regarding escalated issues, review scope, and project progress.
- Monitor project timelines to ensure compliance with service level agreements.
- Deliver timely and accurate results while working independently.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in mortgage servicing or servicing compliance, particularly in collections, loss mitigation, and default management.
- 2+ years of management experience.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective time management are essential.
- In-depth knowledge of servicing areas, including cash management, collections, foreclosure, bankruptcy, loss mitigation, and investor accounting.
- Solid understanding of mortgage documentation and compliance standards.
- Familiarity with servicing systems such as MSP, Back-In-The-Black, LPS Desktop, etc.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability in critical thinking, analysis, interpretation, and research.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment without compromising quality.
- This position is remote and requires the ability to work effectively in a home office setting, accommodating moderate background noise.
