The Healthcare Access Coordinator plays a crucial role in providing financial guidance, collecting co-payments and deductibles, and offering financial assistance education to patients and their families.
This position involves prompt registration, appointment scheduling, and the completion of registration by gathering and inputting all necessary financial and demographic data into the ADT system. Responsibilities include verifying insurance benefits, generating the ABN, ensuring order compliance, completing MSP, obtaining financial and treatment consents, scheduling medical procedures, and securing pre-certification when necessary, all while adhering to regulatory standards.
The Healthcare Access Coordinator must exhibit a strong Customer Focus, demonstrating Patience, Composure, and Compassion. The ability to navigate Ambiguity effectively and manage change is essential, along with possessing robust Time Management skills and Interpersonal Savvy to foster Peer Relationships.
This role requires expert Functional/Technical skills to conduct financial assessments and evaluations for each patient entering the facility. The Coordinator must understand the organization's financial policies, apply them appropriately to patients, and ensure payment for hospital liabilities.
Maintaining exceptional customer service standards is vital for effective communication with physicians, physician offices, patients, and colleagues.
Education
Minimum Level of Education Required:
High School completion / GED

Preferred educational qualifications:
Associates Degree preferred in healthcare or a related business field.
Position specific testing requirement:
Proficiency in Windows-based computer technology, including keyboarding and typing at least 25 wpm.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Medical Terminology certification preferred.
Experience
Minimum Level of Experience Required: - 3 years of job-related experience
Preferred experience:
Customer service, general clerical/office, hospital, medical office/clinic, or insurance company experience. Relevant coursework may substitute for prior work experience.
