The Patient Access Specialist plays a crucial role in financial guidance, managing co-payments and deductibles, and offering financial assistance education to patients and their families.

This position involves immediate registration, appointment scheduling, and completing the registration process by gathering and inputting all relevant financial and demographic data into the ADT system. Responsibilities also include verifying insurance benefits, generating the ABN, ensuring order compliance, completing MSP, obtaining financial and treatment consents, scheduling medical procedures, and securing pre-certifications when necessary, all while adhering to regulatory standards.

The Patient Access Specialist must exhibit a strong Customer Focus characterized by Patience, Composure, and Compassion. They should effectively manage change and demonstrate excellent Time Management skills, Interpersonal Savvy, and support Peer Relationships.

Demonstrating advanced Functional/Technical skills, the Patient Access Specialist is responsible for conducting financial assessments and evaluations for each patient entering the facility. A thorough understanding of the hospital's financial policies is essential, along with the ability to apply these policies to patients and ensure payment for their hospital obligations.

Maintaining exceptional customer service standards is imperative for effective communication with physicians, physician offices, patients, and colleagues.


Education

Minimum Level of Education Required:
High School completion / GED

Additional requirements:

Preferred educational qualifications:
Associates Degree preferred in healthcare or a related business field.

Position specific testing requirement:
Proficiency in Windows-based computer technology, including keyboarding and typing at least 25 wpm.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Medical Terminology certification preferred.

Experience

Minimum Level of Experience Required: - 3 years of job-related experience

Preferred experience:
Customer service, general clerical/office, hospital, medical office/clinic, or insurance company. Relevant coursework may substitute for prior work experience.
