Job Overview

Position Summary

The Vocational Support Specialist is responsible for delivering direct vocational evaluations, job creation strategies, and employment coaching services to participants. This role involves collaborating to identify necessary assistance to help individuals surmount employment challenges. The core focus of all activities will be on personal recovery through significant community involvement, contribution, and belonging.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer assistance to small business owners pursuing self-employment opportunities.
  • Recognize and address the needs of clients to ensure effective responses to inquiries and to remove obstacles that hinder daily productivity.
  • Build trusting and supportive relationships with individuals, providing emotional guidance while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Collaborate with individuals to establish Supported Employment objectives and goals, ensuring alignment with their Individual Support Plan (ISP) and Vocational Rehabilitation Referral Information (VRRI) based on their unique requirements, aiming to enhance their physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
  • Support individuals in achieving the objectives outlined in their ISP/VRRI.
  • Provide emergency on-call support in rotation with other team members as necessary.
  • Ensure timely completion of all required documentation.

Qualifications

  • In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, a High School Diploma/GED and Employment Support Services certification from an approved body is required upon hire (such as Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) credential from the APSE, or a Professional Certificate in Employment Services from an ACRE-approved training provider, or CWIC or WIP-C certification in good standing with the Social Security Administration).
  • Fulfill staffing assignments across all vocational areas: Self-Employment at mandated billable productivity levels.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Employment First Best Practices.
  • Possess the ability to assist individuals in developing job skills for self-employment.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and have daily access to a vehicle.

Working Conditions

This position involves working in both an office setting and within the community while supporting program participants. While executing job responsibilities, employees are frequently required to stand, walk, lift, and reach. Travel throughout the community is necessary as part of the program's support.

Physical Requirements

  • Heavy lifting: ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
