The Senior Credit Risk Analyst plays a pivotal role in delivering analytical and underwriting assistance for commercial banking operations, focusing on an independent assessment of the creditworthiness of clients and potential clients. This position collaborates closely with the lending team to evaluate the risks associated with commercial transactions and ensures comprehensive documentation of these transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Conducts in-depth commercial credit evaluations by analyzing various documents such as credit reports, financial statements (both personal and business), tax returns, appraisals, property inspections, and environmental assessments to prepare loan proposals for the appropriate approval body.

+ Analyzes and interprets financial statements to identify the overall credit strengths and weaknesses of prospective commercial credit clients. This analysis encompasses debt-service ratios, current asset ratios, leverage ratios, cash flow assessments, fixed charge coverage, and acid test ratios.

+ Executes a thorough collateral assessment of all assets, including accounts receivable, inventory, equipment, and real estate.

+ Performs credit classification evaluations, detailing the company’s customer base, profiling significant customers, and analyzing delinquent accounts, including aging analysis, collections, and charge-offs.

+ Conducts inventory assessments, examining inventory turnover and identifying issues such as stale inventory, spoilage, and valuation concerns.

+ Evaluates equipment by comparing market value to book value and assessing net orderly liquidation values.

+ Analyzes real estate collateral, reviewing appraisals and considering special use facilities and alternative applications.

+ Engages with clients or their representatives to gather additional information or clarifications during the underwriting process, while coordinating with the Banker.

+ Identifies and evaluates various business, industry, and market risks to categorize business trends, growth patterns, cyclical behaviors, seasonality, and stages of the business cycle, applying these insights to credit assessments.

+ Conducts sector analyses to gauge the health and viability of a company in relation to its competitors.

+ Assesses the overall growth potential of client bases through the application of various economic principles.

+ Orders necessary underwriting materials, including audits, TLJ and UCC searches, appraisals, environmental assessments, flood certifications, and property inspections from both internal and external sources.

+ Finalizes funding reconciliations in Vendor Services.

+ Maintains records of external vendor order costs in Vendor Services.

+ Acts as a mentor and coach to Credit Analyst trainees.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

+ A minimum of 3 years of experience in SBA commercial credit analysis within a financial institution.

+ At least 3 years of experience in a commercial credit analysis role within a financial institution.

+ Previous management experience is preferred.

+ Familiarity with government-backed lending products such as SBA 7(a), SBA 504, and USDA B&I Loan Programs is advantageous.

+ Formal credit training is preferred.

+ Recognized as a strategic thinker and innovative problem solver.

+ Proven high-level problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

+ Capacity to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders at all levels.

+ Self-motivated with strong time and project management skills, along with a keen attention to detail.

+ Strong change management, organizational, and planning skills.

+ Ability to identify, analyze, and define problems, evaluate alternatives, prioritize tasks, manage projects, and implement high-quality solutions.

+ Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and communicate multiple projects and priorities based on organizational needs and strategies.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.

+ Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

This role typically operates in an office environment, involving frequent sitting, walking, and standing, along with occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Regular use of hand-eye coordination is required for operating office equipment. Effective oral and auditory communication is essential for interpersonal interactions and communication through automated devices.
