Position Objective

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) assists the healthcare Provider in delivering personalized patient care, both directly and indirectly, within an outpatient clinical environment. LPNs engage in the planning, execution, and assessment of nursing care, adhering to the objectives, standards, and policies of nursing practice. They are equipped to manage a variety of situations and responsibilities, which constitutes their primary role. LPNs are tasked with providing nursing care tailored to individual patient needs, in accordance with established nursing techniques, procedures, and recognized standards, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Provider. The LPN Hyperbaric Technician is accountable for ensuring adherence to safety protocols within the program for both patients and the organization; thus, they must exercise discretion and independent judgment regarding health and safety policies and procedures. The hyperbaric technician collaborates closely with the physician/provider to coordinate patient care and make recommendations concerning the operations and maintenance of the hyperbaric program. They will assume responsibility for patients during hyperbaric oxygen therapy and all aspects of patient care related to this treatment.

Essential Responsibilities

Nursing Service Delivery
  • Meet, maintain, and comply with Meaningful Use, PQRS, MN community Measures requirements, and other quality initiatives
  • Possess adequate knowledge of Provider practice type
  • Ensure effective and precise patient care coordination
  • Execute all tasks as per Provider order within the scope of practice or specialized training
  • Work in alignment with primary Providers' clinic schedule
  • Manage prior authorization of medications
Alexandria Clinic Specific
  • Prepare and administer injections, immunizations, and medications
  • Administer treatments and dressing applications as prescribed by the Provider
  • Submit appropriate charges for services rendered
  • Collect and manage all specimens correctly
Patient Care
  • Facilitate communication regarding patient care between patients and Providers, acting as a patient advocate at all times
  • Complete thorough documentation of all patient interactions in the electronic medical record
  • Enhance the patient experience and improve patient flow within Alomere Health
  • Effectively communicate with patients, families, and those involved in the patients' care
  • Assist in emergency situations, utilizing knowledge and skills of crash cart and defibrillator resources
  • Respond to patient and visitor requests, complaints, and recommendations
Wound Care Center and Hyperbaric Technician Specific
  • Ensure departmental compliance with the requirements of JCAHO, NFPA 99, PVHO I, UHMS, NBDHMT, and all other applicable center safety policies
  • Evaluate chamber equipment and supplies utilized in the chamber
  • Maintain a safe environment in the Wound Care Center for patients and staff, ensuring the adequate and safe decompression of all personnel with hyperbaric exposure
  • Participate in chamber drills designed to enhance staff response to emergency operations
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of a Practical Nursing program
  • Current MN Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum of one year clinical experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Epic EMR
  • Certification as a Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) *If not certified, certification will be required upon hire
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Friendly, customer service-oriented with a professional demeanor and appearance
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and techniques
  • Knowledge of instruments used for procedures
  • Comprehend basic patient rooming procedures
  • Strong capability in preparing patients and rooms for procedures, assisting Providers as necessary
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
