The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers by delivering tailored patient care in an outpatient clinical environment. LPNs are actively involved in the planning, execution, and assessment of nursing services, adhering to established objectives, standards, and nursing policies. They are equipped to manage a variety of situations and responsibilities, which is central to their role. LPNs provide nursing care in designated areas, focusing on individual patient needs while conforming to recognized nursing techniques and standards, under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or healthcare provider. The LPN Hyperbaric Technician is tasked with ensuring adherence to safety protocols for both patients and the organization, exercising independent judgment regarding health and safety policies. This technician collaborates closely with the physician/provider to coordinate patient care and recommend operational procedures for the hyperbaric program. The technician assumes responsibility for patients during hyperbaric oxygen therapy and oversees all aspects of patient care related to this treatment.
Key Responsibilities
Nursing Service Delivery
- Adhere to Meaningful Use, PQRS, MN community Measures, and other quality initiatives
- Possess adequate knowledge of the provider's practice type
- Ensure efficient coordination of patient care
- Execute all tasks as per provider orders within the scope of practice or specialized training
- Align with the primary provider's clinic schedule
- Manage prior authorization for medications
- Prepare and administer injections, immunizations, and medications
- Deliver treatments and dressing applications as prescribed by the provider
- Accurately submit charges for services rendered
- Properly collect and handle all specimens
- Facilitate effective communication regarding patient care between patients and providers, advocating for patients at all times
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly in the electronic medical record
- Enhance the patient experience and streamline patient flow within Alomere Health
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers involved in patient care
- Assist in emergency situations, utilizing knowledge of crash cart and defibrillator resources
- Address patient and visitor requests, complaints, and suggestions
- Ensure departmental compliance with JCAHO, NFPA 99, PVHO I, UHMS, NBDHMT, and other relevant safety policies
- Evaluate chamber equipment and supplies utilized in the hyperbaric chamber
- Maintain a safe environment in the Wound Care Center for both patients and staff, ensuring safe decompression for all personnel exposed to hyperbaric conditions
- Participate in chamber drills designed to enhance staff response to emergency situations
- Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program
- Current MN Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- A minimum of one year of clinical experience
- Experience with Epic EMR
- Certification as a Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT); if not certified, certification will be required upon hire
- Friendly and customer service-oriented with a professional demeanor
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and techniques
- Familiarity with instruments used in procedures
- Comprehension of basic patient rooming procedures
- Proficient in preparing patients and rooms for procedures, assisting providers as necessary
