Licensed Practical Nurse

Employment Status: Part Time, 72 hours per pay period
Approximate Hours:
- Four weekdays: 7:45am - 5:00pm
- One half day: 8:00am - 12:00pm
- One weekend (Saturday + Sunday) every month: 8:45am - 3:00pm (4 week rotation)
- As a Float, you may occasionally need to cover shifts that consist of hours ranging between 7:00am-8:00pm.
The Licensed Practical Nurse/Certified Medical Assistant plays a vital role in assisting the Physician/Provider with personalized patient care, both directly and indirectly, within an outpatient clinical environment. This position involves participating in the planning, execution, and assessment of nursing care, adhering to the objectives, standards, and policies of nursing. The primary responsibility of a LPN/CMA is to manage a diverse array of situations and responsibilities effectively. This role entails delivering nursing care tailored to individual patient needs, in accordance with recognized nursing techniques, procedures, and established standards, under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Physician/Provider.
Nursing Service Delivery
- Conduct basic patient rooming.
- Prepare patients and examination rooms for procedures, assisting the Physician/Provider as needed.
- Adhere to Meaningful Use, PQRS, MN community Measures requirements, and other quality initiatives.
- Possess adequate knowledge of the provider's practice type.
- Ensure efficient and precise coordination of patient care.
- Execute all tasks as per physician/provider orders within the scope of practice or specialty training.
- Align work with the primary provider's clinic schedule.
- Manage prior authorization of medications.
- Administer injections and immunizations.
- Provide treatments as required.
- Assist in emergency situations, utilizing knowledge of crash cart and defibrillator.
- Familiarity with instruments used for procedures.
- Submit appropriate charges for services rendered.
- Maintain effective and timely communication with patients, families, and involved parties in patient care.
- Facilitate communication regarding patient care between patients and providers, advocating for patients at all times.
- Ensure complete and thorough documentation of all patient interactions in the electronic medical record.
- Employees in specialty areas will be required to perform procedures specific to that specialty.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Participate in departmental or organizational meetings and training sessions.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using equipment relevant to the position.
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
Education, Experience & Skills Required
- Graduate of a Practical Nursing or Medical Assisting program.
- Prior experience in a clinical healthcare setting is preferred.
- Knowledgeable in medical terminology, procedures, and techniques.
- Exhibit a friendly, customer service-oriented demeanor with a professional appearance.
- Proficient in MS Office; Epic EMR experience is preferred.
- Current MN Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
