Job Title: BHD Medical Records Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented BHD Medical Records Specialist to join our team at Chinatown Service Center (CSC). As a key member of our Behavioral Health Department, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate and organized health information data for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately transcribe and organize clients' medical record requests
  • Maintain electronic health records (EHR) databases and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Correspond with clients to ensure medical record request forms are completed appropriately
  • Follow up on clients' requests and retrieve medical records promptly
  • Create schedules for assessments within the medical record and prepare assessments for completion
  • Ensure that physician's orders, telephone orders, and other records requiring signatures are received and filed within the required timeframe
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED and a minimum of one to two years of experience in a clinical/medical facility clerical electronic medical records setting
  • Proficiency in computer usage of MS Office software/programs and strong data entry skills
  • Proficiency in communicating in English, both verbally and in writing, and minimally orally in Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin)
  • Excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and regulations on the confidentiality of medical records (HIPAA)
  • Minimally proficient level of knowledge of health records functions and requirements, including California and CMS EMR processes and programs
