Job Summary

The County of Blair is seeking a skilled Victim Support Specialist to join our team. As a Victim Support Specialist, you will work under general supervision to provide a wide range of services to victims and witnesses of juvenile and adult crimes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer functions associated with the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) and Intermediate Punishment (IP) courts, including communicating with clients, sending notices, handling victim-impact and restitution claims, and supporting the Assistant District Attorney.
  • Carry out duties regarding the administration of the Rights and Services Act (RASA) and Victims of Crimes Act (VOCA) grant procedures, including maintaining statistics, data entry, revisions, and working with County personnel and grant staff.
  • Complete tasks related to state parole notifications, such as locating applicable victims, arranging video testimony, and assisting with the preparation of impact statements.
  • Enter victim compensation claims into the online system.
  • Participate in the monthly homicide survivors support group.
  • Serve as a backup to certain duties of the unit coordinator.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED supplemented by college-level coursework in criminal justice, human services, or social services; a bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of work experience.
  • Effective interpersonal relations and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated experience setting schedules and meeting deadlines, and managing multiple priorities.
Working Conditions

The incumbent must travel weekly to preliminary hearings held at magisterial district judge offices every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. A valid driver's license is required.

The County of Blair offers a competitive benefits package, including 90% employer-paid PPO healthcare, a pension plan, public employer's equivalent of 401(k), term life insurance, short-term disability, and a menu of voluntary benefits. The starting wage is $13.40/hour x 35-hour workweek.
