Role Summary: Under the guidance of the Transportation Manager, this role is dedicated to the safe and efficient transportation of individuals with physical limitations to their designated locations. The position necessitates regular interaction with caregivers and community organizations.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Candidates must be at least 18 years old and possess a minimum of one year of experience working with the elderly population.
Licensing Requirements: A valid North Carolina Driver's License with a clean driving record, free from major violations.
Specialized Training: Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and operate vehicles designed for accessibility. Must adhere to the defined scope of practice and meet the competency standards set by Kintegra Health and approved by CMS prior to independent work and annually thereafter.
Health Requirements: Must be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all vaccinations current before engaging in direct contact with participants.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with participants, families, staff, and external agencies.
- Be trained to operate various vehicles within the transportation fleet, with the understanding that driving responsibilities may vary as directed by the Transportation Coordinator or their designee.
- Transport individuals with physical limitations using a specially equipped van, ensuring the proper operation of wheelchair lifts and securement equipment, while delivering participants to appointments punctually.
- Adhere to established schedules, making necessary adjustments to accommodate unforeseen changes, and determine the safest and most efficient routes for pick-up and delivery, with all modifications approved by the Transportation Manager or Scheduler.
- Assist participants in boarding and disembarking from vehicles, employing appropriate safety techniques and demonstrating proper care and storage of durable medical equipment.
- Provide door-to-door service, ensuring participants safely exit and enter their residences.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Conduct regular inspections of the vehicle, maintaining cleanliness and safety, reporting maintenance needs as required, and completing daily maintenance checklists.
- Maintain accurate documentation of fuel receipts as directed.
- Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team when requested, attending meetings and contributing to participant care planning, while communicating any changes in participant conditions to relevant team members.
- Complete necessary documentation as required.
- Maintain a safe driving record, verified annually through the retention of a valid North Carolina driver's license.
- Meet all physical demands of the role, including standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, squatting, and walking for extended periods.
- Perform other assigned duties as needed.
