Job Description

The Commemorative Air Force is seeking a highly skilled Director of Operations to lead our aviation operations team. This exciting opportunity allows you to work with volunteers while preserving and operating historic vintage aircraft.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing all 175 aircraft, flight operations, airshow events, and operational activities within the CAF and its 80 units. You will promote a safety culture and provide leadership to our team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Promoting a safety culture and overseeing the Operations Office Manager.
  • Managing the online flight management software 'Rally Point' for aircraft operations.
  • Leading the CAF Stan Eval Committee and their safety charter.
  • Oversight of the CAF pilot proficiency and evaluation program.
  • Working directly with members, volunteers, and pilots to assist with operational needs.
  • Management of the LHFE 6802 exemption and Rides for Hire Programs.
  • Oversight of the CAF Drug and Alcohol abatement program.
  • Oversight of the CAFR regulation documents including 60-1, 55-7, 66-1.
  • Collaboration with FAA and other industry partnerships.

Requirements:

  • Current CFI (required).
  • Class 2 Medical (required, or highly desirable).
  • Eligibility to enroll in the CAF's managed Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • Warbird, Vintage, and Flight Training experience (highly desirable).
  • A&P preferred but not required.
  • Experience and ability to work with volunteers is a required skill.
