Job Title: Health and Safety Manager

Pactiv Evergreen Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to join our team at the Evergreen Packaging Pine Bluff Paper Mill in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Job Summary:

The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a proactive Health and Safety plan that aligns with Pactiv Evergreen's corporate policies, vision, and values. This role will oversee the development of policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal Health and Safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement Health and Safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Oversee plant safety portion of all regulatory audits.
  • Implement PTVE Health and Safety Management Technical Standards.
  • Maintain updated OSHA required written programs and develop/conduct training as necessary.
  • Oversee reporting and investigations of potential injuries, accidents, and health and safety related issues.
  • Provide tactical leadership through proactive identification of areas for improvement and development of solutions.
  • Promote a Zero Harm culture.
  • Oversee and conduct health and safety training to support and enhance the organization's safety culture.
  • Develop and deploy policies, procedures, and programs to support best-practice and identify best-practices with the PTVE system.
  • Provide communication and training to plant management and establish and maintain communications, reporting, assessments, training programs, and guidance.
  • Work with Corporate Health & Safety departments and provide prioritized direction and technical expertise to engineering organizations or contractors in implementing Health & Safety projects.
  • Have a relentless pursuit for injury prevention, compliance, and risk reduction.
  • Be capable of aligning the local team and influencing others to achieve desired H&S performance objectives outlined by corporate initiatives, business unit initiatives, and local/site initiatives.
  • Review and analyze data to determine the next opportunity to improve H&S performance.
Requirements:
  • BA/BS degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering, or technical discipline or related field or 3+ years in a related field.
  • Must have certification as a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) or have the ability to certify within six months.
  • 3+ years of progressive and related professional health and safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers.
  • Strong analytical skills as well as organizational skills.
  • Solid project management capabilities with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously from origin through execution.
  • Well-developed leadership and motivational skills with proven ability to influence and motivate others to quickly achieve results.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines.
  • Ability to travel (5%).
  • Must be team-oriented with the ability to work on high collaboration and performance teams.
