Job Description

At Bristol General Contractors, LLC, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Superintendent to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for assisting the Project Superintendent with the day-to-day site construction activities and supervising all field personnel, including sub-contractors, to ensure successful project completion on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist and coordinate all construction activities to ensure timely completion and quality workmanship.
  • Direct and supervise field personnel and sub-contractors to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Build and maintain construction schedules, identify and solve problems, and order materials as necessary.
  • Read and understand project plans and specifications, and act as a technical professional for the estimating team.
  • Lead the project team in planning and execution of project work plans and other project submittals, and revise as necessary to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, sub-contractors, suppliers, and other employees, and promote job site safety and encourage safe work practices.
  • Ensure all company employees and contractors adhere to the company safety policy, and maintain an organized and clean job site, including the construction office and job site equipment and vehicles.
  • Coordinate with designated Quality Control and Health and Safety representatives to ensure Bristol and project standards are met, and minimize company exposure and project performance risks.
  • Supervise subcontractor and vendor procurement, material buyout and logistics coordination, preparation of subcontract scoping documents and consent packages, and subcontractor selection following applicable FAR and project requirements as needed.
  • Prepare field reports, quantity tracking, applications for payment, and other project reporting documents as needed.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one to five years of recent experience as a Project Superintendent, Foreman, Craftsman (with supervisory duties), or Quality Control for construction projects required.
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 30 certification required.
  • Experience with projects ranging from $1MM to $30MM required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with self-performance crew preferred.

  • Mobility: Must be able to stoop, kneel, reach, walk, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Hearing: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
  • Visual Acuity: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
  • Lifting: Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions and variety of physical conditions – proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electric current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
