Job Summary

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Technical Expert to join our team in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a key member of our T&D System Operations team, you will provide technical expertise in substation apparatus, protection and control equipment, and communications equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance and support to personnel in specialized fields to investigate and resolve complex issues.
  • Develop and implement new programs, systems, and processes to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Facilitate internal training for substation journeyman, relay technicians, and communications technicians.
  • Develop and maintain operational and procedural documentation.
  • Lead development and implementation processes to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Evaluate policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance with company safety procedures, legislative requirements, and NERC reliability standard requirements.
  • Supervise local relay technicians, communication technicians, and substation journeymen, and develop and review daily and weekly schedules.
  • Analyze schemes and prints, and prepare field notebooks and outlines for installation of substation equipment.
  • Work with engineers and operations staff to resolve system and design issues.
  • Provide training as needed for various departments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of directly related experience.
  • Knowledge of the power system.
  • Assessment skills, including problem diagnosis and identification of proper methods and techniques to resolve and prevent future problems.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult and resolve internal and external customer issues.
  • Ability to work with all levels of an organization, including people with different styles and backgrounds.
  • Expert knowledge of current technologies, tools, systems, and vendors.
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools.
  • Understanding of applicable company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively translate technical jargon into layman's terms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supervising technical personnel.
  • Project management skills.
  • Substation equipment maintenance or engineering experience.
Additional Information

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 15.00% of salary.
