Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technician I to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. As a Radiology Technician I, you will be responsible for providing high-quality radiologic examinations and imaging services to patients in various settings, including the radiology department, emergency department, surgery, and portable bedside service areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform radiologic examinations according to departmental protocols, positioning patients, and selecting technical factors to achieve optimal imaging results.
  • Review orders, correlate patient clinical history with exam being performed, and review previous studies as needed.
  • Consult with attending Radiologists and Registered Nurses as required, following all National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Ensure accuracy of information and data entry, maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality, and capturing required documentation in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Assist with screening patients for contraindications, preparing sterile fields and contrast agents, and maintaining appropriate supplies during procedures.
  • Operate and understand all features and performance capabilities of general radiology, fluoroscopy, and portable imaging systems.
  • Post-process and review images as required, preparing them for Radiologist interpretation and transmission to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all department equipment and devices, reporting equipment malfunctions and accidents or unusual incidents to administrative personnel.
  • Provide service-oriented communication with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and emphasizing a personalized, individualized, compassionate patient care atmosphere.
  • Apply appropriate measures to minimize radiation exposure to patients and self, recording fluoroscopy time used during procedures.
  • Function as part of the resuscitation team during Code Blue and/or Rapid Response Team situations.
  • Maintain all materials needed and linen supply on a daily basis, maintaining general order and cleanliness of the assigned room.
  • Rotate and share on-call responsibilities for General Radiology service areas.
  • Pursue ongoing continuing education and attend departmental meetings and/or in-service presentations as needed or required.
Requirements
  • Associates degree in radiologic technology from an accredited school or two (2) years of directly related experience.
  • Radiographer License (Hawaii) required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification required at hire from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
