Fleet Vehicle Maintenance Associate

Fleet Services oversees a substantial fleet of state vehicles, including a rental vehicle collection. The role of the Fleet Vehicle Maintenance Associate is crucial in ensuring that rental vehicles are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and functionality. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, washing vehicle exteriors, vacuuming and sanitizing interiors, and ensuring all windows are spotless. Maintaining cleanliness standards is essential to meet customer expectations. Additionally, the role may involve refueling vehicles, reporting any damages or required repairs, and maintaining accurate records of vehicle conditions. Light custodial tasks and snow removal from vehicles and parking areas may also be part of the duties.
This position reports directly to the Fleet Services Automotive Shop Manager. The operational hours are Monday through Friday, with shifts varying based on business needs and individual availability. The maximum work hours per week will not exceed 30, and there is no guaranteed minimum.
The incumbent is expected to take initiative in fostering a positive work environment, adhere to the Standards of Business Conduct, embody the Principles of Community, and support the overarching mission of service.
Required Qualifications
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is essential for operating state vehicles.
• Exceptional attention to detail is required.
• Proficiency in operating fuel pumps.
• Ability to engage professionally with both customers and colleagues.
• Capability to work with various cleaning agents and tolerate exposure to fumes, chemicals, and moderate levels of dust and noise.
• Competence in following instructions and completing tasks to meet specified standards.
• Physical stamina to perform extended periods of activity, including standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and squatting.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in automotive detailing is advantageous.
• Familiarity with routine vehicle maintenance tasks is preferred.
• Record-keeping experience is beneficial.
• Previous work with a large fleet of vehicles or in a similar environment is a plus.
• Customer service experience and teamwork capabilities are desirable.
