Job Description

Virginia Tech seeks a highly skilled Senior Research Associate or Research Associate to join its esteemed team of researchers in autonomous vehicle technology. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the development of innovative solutions for autonomous vehicle control and perception, advanced data acquisition, and human/machine interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop software for autonomous vehicle control and perception, advanced data acquisition, and human/machine interaction.
  • Contribute to the design of circuits, firmware, and software for various automotive data acquisition systems.
  • Work with researchers to develop technology deployment strategies.
  • Support the development of novel technology to solve complex research questions.

Requirements

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with C++, Python, and/or similar modern programming languages.
  • Experience with Gnu/Linux and interfacing with various computer components, peripherals, and sensors.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently with little supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with autonomous vehicle technologies.
  • Experience with ROS/ROS2.
  • Experience with real-time data collection.
  • Experience with firmware development.
