Join the City of Chesapeake Human Resources team as a Licensed Clinician I in our Emergency Services department. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate professional to provide pre-admission screening and crisis intervention services to individuals in need.

Job Summary:

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong background in crisis intervention, mental health assessment, and treatment planning. As a Licensed Clinician I, you will work closely with law enforcement, hospitals, and other community agencies to provide comprehensive care to individuals experiencing mental health crises.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete pre-admission screening and crisis intervention services to individuals in need
  • Conduct risk assessments to determine the appropriate level of care using the least restrictive alternative
  • Advocate for individuals requiring inpatient treatment, crisis stabilization, or detox services
  • Consult with magistrates and obtain TDOs and ECOs to promote safety and well-being
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and other community agencies to provide comprehensive care
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field
  • State of Virginia licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), or Clinical Psychologist (LCP)
  • Minimum of two years of related experience in crisis intervention and mental health services
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Rehabilitation
  • LCSW or LPC licensure
  • Supervisee in Social Work or Resident in Counseling
