Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Lab Tech II to join our team at Brigham & Women's Hospital. As a Phlebotomy Lab Tech II, you will be responsible for greeting patients, processing paperwork and specimens, and logging all tests into the computer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform heelsticks, fingersticks, and venipunctures on patients of all ages, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
  • Demonstrate professional customer service skills when interacting with patients and colleagues.
  • Perform receptionist and clerical duties, including answering phones, logging into computer systems, and printing and faxing results.
  • Collect blood specimens using aseptic techniques and prepare the blood drawing area for patients.
  • Log, use, and maintain Sunquest collection manager devices and generate barcode labels for specimens.
  • Process specimens for testing, including accessioning, labeling, and forwarding them for analysis.
  • Maintain a safe work area and adhere to all safety, infection control, and OSHA guidelines and policies.
  • Perform support services as assigned and other duties as required.
Requirements
  • High School diploma required.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (ASCP, ASPT).
  • Phlebotomy certificate preferred (graduate of a phlebotomy training program or schooling).
  • Two years experience as a phlebotomist.
Work Environment

This is a part-time position with a standard schedule of 20 hours per week. The work environment is fast-paced and requires strong communication and teamwork skills.
