Job Summary:

UCHealth is seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist to perform training, competency assessment, and regulatory oversight for Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waived and moderate-complexity testing. This role supports system activity and requires a strong background in laboratory science and testing procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Acts as a technical consultant, demonstrating technical and professional ability to oversee waived and moderate complexity testing procedures as defined by CLIA.
Maintains CLIA licensure and inspection readiness for each laboratory location.
Provides education, training, and competency assessment, as needed, at each laboratory location. Trains staff and performs competency assessment for CLIA waived and moderate-complexity testing as governed by regulation.
Assists with instrument and testing issues at each laboratory location. Recognizes testing issues and finds solutions. Writes testing procedures.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or medical laboratory science or medical technology.
Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technician, Technologist in Chemistry, Technologist in Hematology, Technologist in Microbiology, or Technologist in Molecular Biology by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
2 years of experience in non-waived testing.
