POSITION OBJECTIVE:
To empower students in enhancing their communication abilities essential for reaching their fullest academic and social potential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct assessments for students with communication challenges.
  • Diagnose and evaluate speech and language impairments.
  • Create and execute tailored educational plans to address the specific needs of each student receiving therapeutic services.
  • Design suitable service delivery models to accommodate student requirements.
  • Refer students to additional professional and community resources as necessary.
  • Collaborate with classroom educators and other school staff to ensure the integration of therapy progress into classroom activities.
  • Provide information, support, and guidance to parents and families.
  • Assist educators in identifying students with communication disorders.
  • Maintain comprehensive records for students assessed and receiving services.
  • Update administrators and educational team members on program developments and student achievements.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and uphold professional ethics and leadership.
  • Coordinate services with other educational programs.
  • Exhibit proficiency in both written and verbal communication.
  • Comply with school system regulations, administrative procedures, local board policies, and applicable state and federal laws.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or designated district administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must possess a valid teaching certification or be able to obtain one within a specified timeframe upon hiring.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Completion of a recognized program in Speech Therapy from an accredited institution.

SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Compensated according to the Certified Personnel Salary Schedule

EMPLOYEE GROUP: Certified
