Intervention and Outreach Liaison Specialist

Champlain Housing Trust is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Intervention and Outreach Liaison to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in providing support to unhoused individuals and connecting them to essential resources and services.
Key Responsibilities:- Build strong relationships with community service agencies and CHT staff to ensure seamless support for our guests and tenants.
- Perform direct outreach to the unhoused population on CHT properties and provide resource connections.
- Utilize active listening, compassion, and verbal de-escalation skills to diffuse conflicts and promote positive interactions.
- Act as a resource for staff, providing insight and mentorship to promote growth and improve guest/tenant/resident interactions.
- Provide backup and support at hotel and/or shelter locations as needed.
- Perform special projects assigned by the director or associate director.
- BA in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field, or at least 7 years of experience working with high-risk populations.
- Familiarity with housing programs, social service programs, and confidentiality rules and regulations, including HIPAA.
- Basic computer and technology proficiencies.
- High self-motivation and commitment to social justice, equity, inclusion, and CHT's membership-based model of permanently affordable housing.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, empathy, confidentiality, conflict resolution, and relational skills.
- Strong coaching, mentoring, and organizational skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion.
- Knowledge of social programs, particularly those related to unhoused populations and housing programs.
- Expert ability to handle high-pressure situations in a calm and professional manner.
The work environment is dynamic, with occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate. Significant self-motivation is required, with occasional travel to meetings and seminars.
