Job Title: Psychiatrist

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatrist to join our medical team at the Hampden County Sheriff's Office. As a Psychiatrist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality mental health care to our justice-involved population.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and supervision of all providers assigned to psychiatric patients at HCSO. You will also assist the Medical Director in program development and quality improvement projects as assigned.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise providers assigned to psychiatric patients
  • Assist the Medical Director in program development and quality improvement projects
  • Participate in research projects and serve as principal investigator
  • Teach and train mental health personnel and other HCSO health care staff
  • Liaise with Massachusetts Department of Mental Health providers and other agencies
Requirements:
  • At least three years of residency training in a recognized program in psychiatry
  • At least two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in the field of psychiatry
  • Current and valid registration as a Physician under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine
  • Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  • Strong working knowledge of the purpose, goals, and operations of a correctional and treatment-focused facility
Work Schedule:

20 hours per week, Monday-Friday; two 8-hour shifts, one 4-hour shift
