Job Overview

Position Summary: As a Safety Supervisor at K2 Staffing, you will be instrumental in safeguarding our workforce and ensuring adherence to all pertinent safety regulations and standards within the civil construction sector. Your main duty will be to formulate, execute, and manage safety policies, procedures, and programs aimed at minimizing risks linked to construction operations. You will work in close collaboration with project leaders, site managers, and personnel to foster a safety-oriented culture and avert accidents or incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Formulate and Execute Safety Policies: Develop and implement thorough safety policies, procedures, and programs customized to meet the unique demands of civil construction projects, ensuring compliance with local regulations and industry benchmarks.
  2. Conduct Safety Evaluations: Regularly assess construction sites, machinery, and work practices to pinpoint potential hazards and confirm adherence to safety standards. Perform internal evaluations to gauge the effectiveness of safety protocols and suggest enhancements.
  3. Risk Evaluation and Hazard Reduction: Identify and assess potential safety threats associated with construction tasks. Create strategies to mitigate risks and enforce controls to prevent accidents, injuries, and property damage.
  4. Deliver Safety Training: Design and provide safety training sessions for employees, subcontractors, and other stakeholders involved in construction projects. Training topics may encompass hazard identification, fall protection, equipment handling, emergency procedures, and regulatory compliance.
  5. Encourage a Safety Culture: Cultivate a robust safety culture within the organization by enhancing awareness, accountability, and active engagement in safety initiatives. Promote open dialogue and feedback regarding safety issues and incidents.
  6. Incident Analysis and Reporting: Lead inquiries into accidents, near misses, and safety incidents to identify root causes and prevent recurrence. Prepare comprehensive incident reports and collaborate with management to implement corrective measures.
  7. Compliance with Regulations: Stay informed about relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards applicable to the construction industry. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory bodies, and coordinate with government inspectors as necessary.
  8. Emergency Preparedness: Develop emergency response strategies and procedures for construction sites, including evacuation plans, first aid protocols, and communication strategies. Conduct drills and simulations to evaluate preparedness and response capabilities.
  9. Documentation and Record Maintenance: Maintain precise records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and corrective actions. Prepare reports and documentation for internal review and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant certifications is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in safety management within the construction sector, particularly in civil construction projects.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical abilities to assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Proven leadership skills with a proactive approach to safety.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a dynamic construction environment.
