Job Summary

The Nuclear Fuel Engineer (Reactor Engineer) plays a critical role in supporting the core design and reactor physics calculations for Energy Harbor's nuclear power plants. This position requires a strong analytical mind and excellent communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage reload core design projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to safety standards.
  • Act as the primary contact between the plant and fuel vendor for fuel and safety analysis issues, providing expert guidance and support.
  • Perform core physics calculations using the Studsvik CMS software, analyzing data to inform reactor operations and maintenance.
  • Provide core physics data support to Reactor Engineering, Operations, Training, and other applicable groups at site, as well as the Fuel Procurement and Spent Fuel Management groups.
  • Initiate vendor analyses and perform verification of the results of vendor-supplied reload analyses, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Support vendor design verifications and quality audits, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.
  • Contribute to spent fuel criticality analyses, strategic fuel cycle planning, decay heat calculations, and reactor pressure vessel fluence calculations, providing expert insights and recommendations.
  • Identify and perform tasks as required to meet objectives, prioritizing projects and resources to achieve business goals.
  • Lead interpretation and analysis of complex issues, providing clear and concise recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate assigned projects, studies, and initiatives through completion, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes.
  • Comply with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment, adhering to industry standards and regulations.
  • Prepare and present reports, including recommendations to resolve complex issues, to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Participate in and lead special projects and committees, including external organizations, to drive business growth and improvement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Nuclear Engineering.
  • Proven performance in reactor core design and core physics calculations, with a strong analytical ability and excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, with the ability to prioritize tasks and resources to achieve business goals.
  • Studsvik Scandpower CMS software experience is a plus, as is experience in fuel cycle planning and spent fuel management.
