Job Summary

This is a challenging opportunity to join the U.S. Pacific Fleet, Commander in Chief, as a Nuclear Test Engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting in the training and qualification of Nuclear Test Engineers in the Nuclear Test Engineering Training Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and review course material on reactor and steam plant systems associated with Naval Nuclear Propulsion Plants.
  • Collaborate with other instructors to create interactive classroom training sessions to build a sound knowledge base for test engineers.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade quizzes and exams to monitor and evaluate student progress.
  • Provide counseling and corrective action for subpar performance.
  • Conduct training on nuclear test procedures, support equipment, and administrative requirements for the Nuclear Engineering Department, Nuclear Production Shops, and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Plant operators.
  • Use Reactor Control Room simulators as an interactive training platform to operationalize test engineers' knowledge.
  • Have access to operational Naval Nuclear Propulsion Plants in the shipyard as a live training platform.
  • Serve as a technical advisor in your area of expertise to assist in the Shipyard's Emergency Control Center.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Education may be substituted for experience. A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
