Key Responsibilities:
Scheduling and Benefits Coordination:
- Accurately register new patients in the electronic health record system by collecting essential demographic and insurance details.
- Organize patient appointments based on individual needs, physician availability, and authorization requirements.
- Confirm insurance benefits using electronic eligibility tools to verify coverage details, including effective dates, primary care provider information, and co-payment responsibilities.
- Document all relevant benefit information during scheduling to ensure smooth transitions to the Financial Clearance Team for any necessary financial approvals.
- Update patient information from previous visits as required.
Authorization Management:
- Collaborate with primary care physicians and insurance providers to secure necessary referrals for scheduled office visits.
- Ensure all authorizations are meticulously recorded in the system.
- Inform patients of any potential issues related to obtaining authorizations prior to their appointments.
- Work with the Billing and Collections department to investigate and resolve previously denied claims regarding authorizations.
- Coordinate with the Benefit Verification team to confirm coverage details when challenges arise.
- Utilize various insurance platforms to acquire referrals and authorizations as needed.
General Duties:
- Maintain compliance with all organizational policies and procedures established by Orthopaedic Solutions Management.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support departmental objectives.
