Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Food Services Manager, the Culinary Service Leader operates within various settings such as kitchens, cafeterias, and patient service areas. This role involves leading and organizing daily operations in a designated section of Nutrition Services.

The Culinary Service Leader also takes on cashier responsibilities, ensuring accurate cash handling and fostering positive customer interactions during assigned shifts. This position is crucial for maintaining adequate staffing levels and resolving any issues to uphold departmental standards in sanitation and customer service.

Key responsibilities include training and orienting new Culinary Service Workers, assembling and delivering patient meal trays, and preparing special dietary orders. Occasionally, the leader may mix dietary supplements as directed and engage in specialized food preparation tasks.


Key Responsibilities:

The following duties are essential to the role but are not exhaustive:

  • Perform food preparation tasks while efficiently assembling food and beverages on the tray line, ensuring smooth operations and accurate portion control.
  • Adhere to all HACCP regulations.
  • Lead and prioritize daily workflows, ensuring adequate staffing and addressing any operational challenges.
  • Assist in the timely delivery and setup of catering events and manage cashiering duties for customers.
  • Maintain cleanliness in dining areas and workspaces, and assist with stocking supplies in the cafeteria and kitchen as needed.
  • Operate, assemble, disassemble, disinfect, and clean kitchen equipment, as well as wash pots, pans, dishes, and utensils.
  • Ensure priority meal service is processed efficiently, delivering food to patients in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Handle café transactions and manage catering deliveries while maintaining cleanliness in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications:

All final candidates must successfully complete an FBI fingerprinting process to comply with cash handling policies.

  • Proficient in balancing cash, coins, checks, and credit card transactions.
  • Must meet bonding requirements for cashiering duties.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in food preparation or service is required.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to kitchen sanitation practices.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Contract duration: 13 weeks
