Job Title: Emergency Services Support Coordinator

Union County, NC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Services Support Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our 911 Communications department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of emergency services to our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform complex administrative and technical support duties to relieve the director of operational detail.
  • Compose reports and correspondence, screen and handle inquiries by telephone and in person.
  • Coordinate functions and activities, interpret and apply program policies and procedures.
  • Maintain computerized data-base and map files for the 911 system.
  • Monitor and maintain the county's geospatial (GIS) data and abilities to help reach county goals and objectives.
  • Perform various financial functions, including processing invoices, entering purchase orders, and reconciling P-Card statements.
  • Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of departmental budget(s).
  • Develop recruitment requisitions, create PAFs for personnel changes, and submit separation notifications.
  • Collaborate with directors to develop strategic plans to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Provide and explain departmental policies and information to the public.
  • Perform as office manager, making decisions on general office procedures when necessary.
  • Develop and implement logistical strategies and processes to support organizational needs.
  • Manage vendor interactions, distribute supplies as needed, and maintain inventory control.
  • Correspond with vendors to dispute improper invoicing and review contracts.
  • Verify that sufficient budget is available and take corrective action to minimize budget variances.
  • Review revenue, personnel, operating, and capital expenses.
  • Assist directors in development of inventory control practices and selection of services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of departmental issues and documentation.
  • Serve as department liaison with outside agencies for various administrative projects and disaster preparedness efforts.
  • Work with and submit annual budget and reports to the NC 911 Board Staff.
  • Represent the Communications Center to citizens, civic groups, and other governmental entities.
  • Maintain proficiency in all operational and personnel-related Communications issues.
  • Operate a variety of office equipment and machinery.
  • Use a variety of computer software, including OSSI Software Suite, ArcInfo, Arc GIS, and Windows Server.
  • Serve as the Central Point of Contact for all address requests in Union County.
  • Work directly with the Town Planning departments and all county agencies.
  • Oversee the address request workflow to ensure each request is properly processed to completion.
  • Enter GIS coordinates into the County mapping system for immediate use.
  • Establish block numbers and give final approval of all road names and street number addresses for all streets in Union County.
  • Compile, maintain, and update the Master Street Address Guide (MSAG) for all of Union County.
  • Make site visits to determine road locations and number sequences.
  • Assign Emergency Service Numbers (ESN) to roads.
  • Maintain mass notification system database used to contact county residents in the event of an emergency or major event.
  • Verify street names and street addresses numbers when a conflict arises.
  • Provide administrative support for the assigned department.
  • Process a variety of documentation associated with department operations.
  • Collect, open, and distribute department mail.
  • Maintain department calendars and schedules meeting or other activities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Planning, Geography, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience coordinating various types of data.
  • Licensed as a Notary Public.
  • DCI Modules 1 and 2 within one year of appointment to the position.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain a safe driving history.
