Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Agricultural Compliance Specialist to join our team at the Georgia Department of Agriculture. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, conducting inspections and investigations, and providing technical assistance to food industry personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections and investigations of food manufacturing facilities to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Collect and transport samples of food products, environmental swabs, and water samples as necessary.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to colleagues and management on food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Perform State/FDA Contract Inspections, HACCP Inspections, and other specialized inspections as assigned.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current policies, laws, regulations, and guidance documents.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in agronomy, animal science, biology, chemistry, or a related area from an accredited college or university.
  • Certification as a Registered Sanitarian or Environmental Health Specialist.
  • One to three years of experience conducting inspections and investigations for compliance, depending on level of position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a registered sanitarian or registered environmental health specialist by the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA).
  • Two years of professional experience conducting inspections and investigations for compliance with established state and federal health and food and/or milk sanitation laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
