OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the principal leader of the organization, crafting a vision for Community Impact that is realized through the efforts of a diverse team of high-performing leaders, staff, and volunteers. The CEO acts as the Chief Mobilizer, harnessing the power of relationships and networks, and collaborating across private, public, and corporate sectors to enhance community conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Community Impact: The CEO is accountable for the overall impact of the United Way of St. Johns County on the community, focusing on amplifying its capacity to drive the impact agenda. The CEO collaborates closely with the Board to develop and adapt strategies aimed at achieving this enhanced impact, including fundraising efforts to support these initiatives.

Resource Development: The CEO is tasked with driving significant results in fundraising; identifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospective donors and key leaders of potential new corporate partners; leveraging personal and professional networks into fundraising opportunities; and fostering a culture of fundraising within the organization, at both staff and board levels.

Strategic Management: The CEO serves as the primary resource for the Board of Directors and its key committees, providing strong guidance in policy formulation and interpretation. The CEO partners with the Board and United Way staff to establish organizational goals and develops strategies to ensure their achievement, ensuring alignment of all United Way activities with strategic objectives in community impact, resource development, and staff alignment.

Organization Management: The CEO is responsible for building and leading high-performing teams, ensuring that all staff and committees are aligned and collaborating to achieve organizational outcomes. The CEO maintains accountability for the operational and fiscal integrity of the organization in accordance with policies set by the Board of Directors.

EXPERIENCE/POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Demonstrated executive-level expertise in leadership and operations, with the ability to foster a culture of high energy, performance, and teamwork. Solid business acumen is essential, along with substantial experience in the nonprofit sector (experience with United Way is preferred) and engagement with volunteers and diverse boards. A proven track record of developing partnerships, building teams, and managing conflicts is required.

EDUCATION BACKGROUND: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required, along with proven continuous learning experiences (ten+ years) in strategic and organizational leadership, management, fundraising, and collaborative problem-solving.
