Role Overview:
The Language Operations Specialist 1 is responsible for executing tasks related to the analysis and processing of voice and graphic language materials to support intelligence operations.
1. Extracting critical information
2. Providing translations and/or transcripts from clear, factual spoken or written content
3. Summarizing straightforward written or spoken material
4. Proficient typing skills on an English-language keyboard
Qualifications:
Languages:
Dari and Pashto
Minimum educational requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level 2 in Audio Translation Performance and/or Translation Performance from the required languages into standard American English.
Valid scores from the NSA Civilian Language Test may be utilized as acceptable proof of translation and audio translation proficiency.
ILR skill level validation must be documented within two years prior to application.Experience Requirement: A minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience in Cryptologic Operations with a focus on language processing in the specified languages.
At least one (1) year of this experience should involve translating, transcribing, and summarizing as primary responsibilities.
One (1) year of experience typing on an English keyboard is also required.Acceptable Experience for Language Operations Specialist Level 1:
Relevant experience includes tasks such as scanning and categorizing foreign language materials; extracting essential information; summarizing, translating, and transcribing; and maintaining operational databases.
