Position Summary
The main objective of this role is to oversee crisis intervention services, conduct initial assessments, and perform substance use disorder screenings. This position also involves coordinating intake appointments for individuals who qualify for services through the Monroe Community Mental Health Authority (MCMHA) and delivering short-term counseling to clients attending local educational institutions.
The focus is on providing brief therapeutic interventions, such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, to adolescents and adults exhibiting mild to moderate symptoms that typically fall outside the scope of MCMHA services. These individuals may face psycho-social challenges that hinder their ability to function effectively in various domains, including education, employment, community engagement, family dynamics, and interpersonal relationships.
The Short-Term Counselor is accountable for the provision of both direct and indirect service units, adhering to established qualitative and quantitative performance benchmarks for short-term counseling services.
Qualifications
A Master's degree in social work or psychology is required, along with current licensure or certification in Michigan as a LMSW, LLP, or LPC.
Preferred candidates will have experience in clinical evaluations and delivering short-term counseling to emotionally distressed youth and adults, utilizing individual, group, and family therapy modalities.
