Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Inspections Supervisor to join our team at DeKalb County. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and directing assigned staff, developing and overseeing employee work schedules, and ensuring adequate coverage and control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct assigned staff, including developing and overseeing employee work schedules.
  • Compile and review timesheets, approve/process employee concerns and problems, and counsel or discipline as appropriate.
  • Assist with or complete employee performance appraisals, direct work, and act as a liaison between employees and management.
  • Organize, prioritize, and assign work, prioritize and schedule work activities to meet objectives, and ensure that subordinates have the proper resources needed to complete assigned work.
  • Process a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, including code books, inspection reports, building installations and alterations, and payroll.
  • Schedule and record inspector training, schedule inspectors for training courses as needed, and maintain records of inspector certifications and licenses.
  • Ensure maintenance of department vehicles, review vehicle maintenance reports, schedule maintenance and repairs as needed, and ensure availability of vehicles.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in Engineering or Construction Management or a related field required.
  • Five years of experience in inspections, engineering or construction management to include lead or supervisory experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
Working Conditions

The Inspections Supervisor will work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to communicate effectively with employees and management.
