Job Summary

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist will apply the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of CT scanning equipment in a compassionate and timely manner. This role is responsible for producing diagnostic CT scans that assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assure the quality of all images and confirm that all pertinent patient/procedural data is correct.
  • Perform computed tomography procedures.
  • Perform timeout as required per policy.
  • Properly position patients on CT scanning cradles and properly immobilize patients with appropriate devices to obtain desired position.
  • Makes radiation exposures by energizing scanner per physician request and patient history.
  • Perform intravenous injections and demonstrates a knowledge of use and care of existing IVs, administers oral, rectal, and IV radiographic contracts agents specific to procedures.
  • Assists the radiologist with biopsies, drainage procedures, etc. utilizing sterile techniques, exhibiting safe and effective use of all contrast and radiation materials.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all CT IT systems, including Radiant and PACS.
  • Participates in on call rotation as required.

Requirements

  • BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
  • Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Advanced modality registration in CT, ARRT (preferred, or must obtain within 2 years)
  • State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute
  • 1 year of experience as CT or Rad Tech
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Picture archiving communication system (PACS)
