As a Certified EEG Specialist, under the guidance of the Neurovascular Coordinator, your role will involve conducting standard testing procedures on patients.


Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing for assessments by verifying calibration and ensuring necessary supplies are available.
  • Conducting EEGs, nerve conduction velocity tests, and sensory nerve conduction velocity tests on patients.
  • Informing patients about the testing processes.
  • Performing peripheral and cerebral vascular Doppler examinations.
  • Applying formulas to interpret test outcomes.

Responsibilities include:
  • Preparing for assessments by accurately checking equipment calibration and ensuring adequate supplies are available.
  • Reviewing patient clinical data to understand the rationale for testing.
  • Ensuring patient comfort and explaining the testing procedures to alleviate anxiety.
  • Administering peripheral and cerebral vascular Doppler examinations, including arterial studies.
  • Recommending and administering sedation as directed by a physician.
  • Conducting EEGs and nerve conduction velocity tests.
  • Performing evoked potentials, both visual and auditory.
  • Assisting in the training of other staff as necessary.
  • Conducting color velocity imaging evaluations.
  • Utilizing formulas to analyze test results.
  • Monitoring intraoperative studies using EEGs, EPs, and NCVs as required.
  • Assisting in the interpretation of test results for diagnostic purposes.
  • Relying on experience and judgment to achieve testing objectives.
  • Maintaining and cleaning all equipment.
  • Scheduling patients and performing various clerical tasks as needed.
  • Completing mandatory training to uphold organizational and departmental competencies.
  • Maintaining relevant certification and licensure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent with some college coursework.

Certifications:
Registered EEG Technologist.

Complexity of Work:
Maintains competencies specific to the patient population served.

Ability to perform tasks requiring attention to detail to ensure accurate test results.


Ability to work harmoniously with colleagues; treat patients with courtesy and respect; and collaborate effectively with physicians.

Ability to utilize technical physiological testing equipment.


Work Experience:
Minimum of one year of relevant experience.

Physical Requirements:
Adheres to standard precautions using personal protective equipment as necessary.
