Nurse Practitioner Acute Care Specialist

Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner Acute Care to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of our patients' care plans.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and consultation, while maintaining and promoting the health of patients.
- Work in both inpatient and outpatient settings, performing according to the nurse practice act of the State of Texas and as part of a treatment team.
- Model compassionate communication with patients, physicians, and the interprofessional healthcare team, and provide education to patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments.
- Conduct physicals, order tests, and serve as a patient's healthcare provider, prescribing medications as appropriate.
- Collaborate with the interprofessional healthcare team to manage and coordinate patient care, advocating on behalf of patients and families to identify and resolve clinical and ethical concerns.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, contributing to the development and implementation of protocols to ensure patient safety.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, prioritizing care based on patient needs, abilities, and preferences.
- Master's degree in Nursing
- Two years of registered nurse, advanced practice, or nurse practitioner clinical experience
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or Compact State Licensure within 60 days
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) certification in Acute Care
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (not required for Employee Health, Primary Care, and Telemedicine departments)
- Prescriptive Authority (AP) certification
- Narcotics License (DEA) within 6 months
- Experience working in an acute care setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Proficient in electronic medical records and other healthcare software
