Key Responsibilities- Provide advanced public health level assessment of health status and health care needs of individuals, families, and/or groups of individuals in a variety of settings.
- Direct patient care, in-depth teaching, and physical assessment to prevent, promote, and maintain optimal health.
- Work under the direction and guidance of the Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor.
- Conduct physical assessments, case management, and investigative and interview techniques.
- Participate in the planning and implementing of treatment for patients.
- Work with patients having a variety of physical, social, or emotional problems.
- Observe patient's reactions to medications.
- Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
- Prioritize workload.
- Perform nursing skills, including blood draw, vaccine administration, patient assessment.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Communicate effectively.
- Investigate and report cases of communicable disease, suspected cases, outbreaks, or unusual prevalence of communicable disease when required.
- Assist in the assessment of health status and health care needs, counseling, guidance, and education of assigned clients.
- Provide and/or participate in in-service and community education programs relative to communicable disease control.
- Consult with physicians, hospitals, other county health department staff, and other community groups concerned with communicable disease control and surveillance.
- Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code or 8.27.
- Associate degree or higher in nursing from an accredited college or university.
- One (1) or more years working as a RN in a Hospital or Public Health Department Setting.
- Bilingual, English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole.
- Experience working as a RN Case manager.
- Experience working as a RN with Tuberculosis Clients.
